[03]How we work

How we work.

01

You talk to the person who builds it

The person who answers your first message is the one writing the code. Nobody in between.

02

You see it early

You get something to look at in the first weeks, then again every couple of weeks. No waiting months for a reveal.

03

A price agreed before we start

You know what it costs and what you get before any work begins. No open-ended bills, no surprise invoices.

04

We take it all the way live

Your site goes online. Your app goes on the App Store and Google Play. Done means live, not a demo.

[04]FAQ

Questions, answered.

What does Kōten do?
Kōten builds websites and mobile apps. It is an independent studio based in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, working with small businesses, startups and product teams across Belgium, Luxembourg, France, the Netherlands and Germany.
How much does a website or a mobile app cost?
It depends on what you need, so Kōten quotes per project rather than by the hour. You get one price and one date before any work starts, and that price only changes if you change what you asked for. Tell us what you have in mind and you get a quote back.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the project, and you are told the date before work starts. Kōten works in short cycles, so you see something running in the first weeks rather than waiting until the end to find out what you are getting.
Who owns the website or app once it is finished?
You own it. The code and the rights to what you paid for are yours, handed over so you can run it, change it, or give it to another developer. The exact terms are written into each project agreement.
What do you build with?
Websites are built with Next.js, TypeScript and Supabase. Mobile apps are built with React Native, Expo or Flutter, so one app covers both iPhone and Android instead of paying to build it twice. These are mainstream tools, which means another developer can pick your project up later.
Does Kōten build its own products?
Yes. Kōten builds and runs its own products in house, including Konek (a mobile app for sport and social outings), Apportia (a platform for business introductions) and Fideloop (loyalty cards inside the phone wallet). Running our own products is how we know that what we hand over holds up.
How do you start a project with Kōten?
Send a message through the contact form on koten.studio or email hello@koten.studio, and say what you need and where it stands. Kōten replies to every real enquiry, and that first exchange is used to agree the scope and the price before any work begins.
