Why it exists
Organising a match or an outing usually happens across a handful of group chats. Who is coming, when, where: it all gets lost in the messages, and the outing ends up never happening.
Konek brings the outing, the invitation and the answers together in one place, on the phone, where the organising really happens.
What we built
One app for iPhone and Android. You create an outing, a game of padel, a five-a-side, a drink, you invite your friends, each of them says whether they are in, and everyone knows where and when to meet.
It includes the parts that decide whether people come back: accounts, profiles, the life of an outing from creation to the day itself, and the invitations between friends. It is a working product, not a mock-up.
How we worked
We built the core of the app first and released often, so it reached real users instead of staying a demo.
A single app for iPhone and Android keeps updates quick, and the code stays readable for whoever takes it over next.
Where it stands
Konek is live at konek.social and used by groups of friends who organise sport and social outings.
It is one of our own products, which means we run it as well as build it. Everything that happens after launch, we deal with ourselves.
Built with
- React Native
- Next.js
Konek is built with React Native, so one app covers iPhone and Android instead of two separate builds. For a product that keeps changing as people use it, that means half the code to maintain, updates that reach everyone at once, and one developer who knows the whole app rather than two who each know half.
